No doubt that India is growing, undeniably. So is the startup scenario in India. Over the past few years, a lot of new and encouraging stories have garnered much-deserved attention. The stories of startups in India are everywhere and you don’t even need to go anywhere to find out about them, they are playing right there, in front of our eyes around the day.
Be it Logistics services like Delhivery or Rivigo or payment services like Paytm, PhonePe or educational startups like Unacademy, BYJUs or food delivery services like Swiggy or Zomato they are everywhere and we come face to face with them for our day to day needs.
Venture capital firms scanning Indian markets for the next big investment opportunity after consumer internet would do well to have their eyes trained on technology-driven logistics startups. The market for logistics-technology businesses, which include delivery startups, truck aggregators and warehousing firms, is expected to surge to $9.6 billion by 2020 from $1.4 billion in 2015, according to a new report by investment bank Avendus Capital.
A significant role here is being played by government initiatives such as Make In India. This geared towards improvements in the country’s infrastructure and increased domestic consumption. But at the same time, the Indian logistics startups have also paved the way for heavy investment into the sector.
You need three things to create a successful startup: to start with good people, to make something customers actually want, and to spend as little money as possible.
